U enjoy it only when u stand in tat rush, queue for min half an hr and watching how others eat. U'll be just cursing each n every person sitting and eating masala dosa... because ur mouth will b watering like hell.......
Even the chutney... wen he pours the chutney onto ur plate, u feel like finishing the whole chutney "pathre"(i mean bowl).

Bob - U forgot abt the way people have coffee..as though they have nothing else to do in life...taking their own sweet time..Adding to the irritation of waiting for your turn!!
Talking of masal dose, it would be worth mentioning the "open" butter masale of Marenhalli (JP Nagar). Haven't had a better open masale before!
u shld visit Vyshali hotel in 9th block , thats another awesome place for saagu masale

The other best place to eat masale dose is Sri Krishna Darshan(SKD)in Basavanagudi.
I can give a 5/5 for the masale dose u get in SKD. The chutney is also awesome. he doesnt give sambaar with dose... n u never require sambaar wen u get such an awesome chutney!! :-)
Talking of SKD...Not sure whether u know its an ex-MTR guy who runs it...I wud say that the best item there is rava idly with saagu...actually all items r superb. I think the chandra haara there is jus awsome!

After a very very long time, yesterday i had been to NMH- New Modern Hotel. This hotel is one of the oldest hotels of Bangalore.
It very famous for Thatte Idli, Vade sambar, Bonda Soup, Badam Halwa and the best part is you get very very good "Thuppada Dose".
I like the sambar of NMH because this one is very unique when compared to the sambar you get in others hotels.
Coming to Masale dose... The dose you get here is Triangle shaped which shows that this hotel is really old. I cant find many of the new Darshinis of Bangalore preparing the Old stlye Triangle masale dose.
The dose you get here is sooo crisp that you can hear the crackling sound when you tear it and make pieces!!! Also, when you just make pieces, you can find the thuppa(ghee) coming out of the dose like JUICE!! Oh my GOD! if i remember that now, my mouth starts watering.
When you eat this dose containing thuppa(coming out like juice) you feel you have attained Salvation. The taste is something very very Extraordinary...
I think the adjectives in the English dictionary aren't enough to explain Special Masale Dose of NMH.
Agree - NMH is one of our landmarks..both as a building and for the taste...it has its own place in the hearts of thindi pothas like u and me....i think the aalugadde palya is one of the best u can get...of course the thuppa and sambar only add to it...i think the only place where you can get a sambar as good as that is ADIGA's!! I think this would start a string of posts!!
Adigas is more famous for its Rava idly n tat Bombay saagu...
When i was studying in Vijaya college, Jayanagr 4th blk, i used to eat rava idly saagu almost everyday!!
The one item i liked the most in adigas is the bisibele bath u get in aftrnoon. He gives hot hot bele bath with tat boondi kaalu. tats Sexy!! I wish those days come back again.
Also the set dose u get there rocks but only with that Alu gadde palya!! Even the plain dose is something out of the world. This plain dose is Cone shaped which is full of thuppa!!! this is what adds to the taste.... The nice combination of the chutney with this juicy thuppa creates a unique taste.
The Adigas i was referring to is the one just off DVG rd...Yes, Jayanagar one is also gud...But this was more regular for me...The Bombay saagu is probably one of the best in bangalore...probably only after MTR & SKD...The poori is also very good...of course only with bombay saagu...but the most simple and the best is Idly Vade Sambar...Its probably the best I have had...If SLV or Brahmin's strong point is chutny...its samber for Adigas!
Yup.. Adigas is known very much for its sambar.
The Adiga's in Jayanagar is Vasudev's Adigas.. this is different from the management of DVG rd's adigas.
But as long as the food is gud v really don care about the Banner!!
